About Us
SKREW started out as a symbol...with no name. The concept was created by the SKREW Worldwide Syndicate Inc founder & president,
J Cooch Lucchese
From 1990 - 1997 Cooch was the Manager, Promoter, & DJ for a few Long Island NY clubs. He wanted to simply have only a symbol on all of the advertisements, without naming the night or the club. After a bit of thought, he came up with the idea to have a screw made out of vertebrae. A freelance artist was hired to draw his vision. Here is the original drawing.
Then in 1995, Cooch was introduced to the internet by his good friend, Dee Snider. The potential of the World Wide Web was immediately realized. "It's amazing! But what could I do with it? I'm a club promoter, a DJ, I have a video production company, and I work with bands...AHHHH...BANDS!"
Cooch decided to go into the Artist Merchandising business.
Now he just needed a name. www.PASTE YOUR SYMBOL HERE.com would not work. So he needed to name the screw logo...so why not SKREW!? SKREW.com was available...so he grabbed it.
After learning HTML, and the WYSIWYG web authoring programs...SKREW.com was up & running in a few months.
Now, 1996, SKREW.com needs a Corporate name.
SKREW is a given. The business is on the web...so add Worldwide. And what kind of an association will we be?
An association of people authorized to undertake a duty or transact specific business?
An association of people formed to engage in an enterprise or promote a common interest.?
OK...a Syndicate!
Another reason Syndicate was chosen was due to Cooch's last name...Lucchese. Since it is a very well known Mafia name...as a joke...we refer to the other meaning of Syndicate.
A loose affiliation of gangsters in control of organized criminal activities.
So...over the years SKREW.com has grown tremendously and expanded into different fields...Communications, Travel, Musicians Gear, Gag Gifts, and Artist Management & Production.
Along with these many changes in business...the logo has gone through many changes. You can see the different logos here.
SKREW.com has kept up on the latest technology in order to bring you top notch service.
SKREW.com has recently been taken over by Maximum Distortion Inc...still owned by Cooch.
